My main objective when I took the rear end out of the 1940, was to fix oil leaks. That has changed big time. I hopped that I could clean things up and install new seals and gaskets and be good to go. What was I thinking, it is a 84 year old car!
Upon inspection, it needed a lot! In the first picture you can see most of the new replacement parts for the rear end.
I don’t have a lot of big tools so when it came to pressing off and on bearings I went to see Vince at Fearless Gears Inc. He moved his shop from Fresno to Kuna a few years back. He has all the tools and expertise for working on differentials. He took care of what I needed in no time. Vince is the guy for any of you rear end needs help.
It was quite a brain twister putting that old Ford Banjo rear end together. My friend David (who moved from Reedley to Kuna a few years before me) came over and help me dialed in the free play on the pinion gear and the spacing on the axle housings. I am happy to have it together.
I still have brakes, front drive shaft, rear spring before the rear end can go back into it’s place. But! and that is a big But! there was also oil leaks under the transmission / engine. The transmission is already out and I will be doing some work to it and the engine will be coming out too! Stay tuned for more as I work my way to the front of the Forty!

Lots of nice new parts, lots of work ,I should say precision work. Will be rewarding in the final results.I envy your ability and dedication.I am a big fan of fan of before and after. In 1952 in the A.F. bought a 1941 2 door in Niagara Falls NyUY..Drove it almost nonstop back to Reedley.Anyway good luck in the future.Dale
One thing I don’t like the way I cannot see all of my typing errors in the new version of my comment.
