Riverbend Retreat Center

We just finished up our three weeks at Riverbend Retreat. This is our official SOWER group picture. We have devotions each morning before work, had coffee time after work, went to church together, had a few meals together and worked together. It has been a Blessing to be part of this awesome group. They started heading out on Friday and just two of  us are still here.  We are already missing our friends. Hoping to meet again along our way.

For Valentines Day we took our Sweethearts out to dinner at Mama Mia’s, a Mexican Restaurant with an Italian name. Glen Rose has a really cute downtown square and the girls went down early and browsed all the little shops. It was a little close to dinner time so we didn’t enjoy a piece of pie at the Pie Peddlers but we got chocolate covered strawberries for an appetizer at the Shoo-Fly Soda Fountain. These places are on our go to list, and hope to enjoy a tasty treat at them next month.

The girls painted a couple small bathrooms. I am not sure how they could all work in there??  They also did lots of laundry. It seems every time they would get everything washed, dried and folded a camp would finish and they would roll in bins of more  laundry to do. Just like home, you are never done with the laundry.

We replaced a four single and three double doors. We painted them, added trim both inside and out and Brad and Dwayne installed door closures on each one.

Coby was our Riverbend Retreat Center contact. He directed us,  answered our questions, bought us supplies and gave us all a lesson on how to texture. We all took a turn shooting some texture on the walls. After the texturing was done we shot on some primmer and paint on the walls. Took down all the masking paper and tarp. We installed the trim. We did lots of clean up and that finished up our three weeks. We were able to continue what previous SOWERs did before us and bring the project a little closer to where campers will be able to use that room as a place of refuge.

You can check out Riverbend Retreat Center or see my big Photo Album for the project.  Thankyou for following along, and have a wonderful day.
