Grand View Idaho

Along the Snake River in Grand View Idaho

We have been home for about a week and it was time to explore our surroundings, besides it was going to be around 70 degrees.

I had flagged the Emu-Z-um on my “want to check out map” and figured it was time to check it out. We headed that way and realized we needed to eat first. There are very few options to eat in the area (like two) and we chose Cindy’s Cafe. We walked up on a wood sidewalk, and it felt like we walked back in time. (I think we did) Good homemade food and an old time atmosphere. It was a great place for lunch.

You can see the Snake River through the window.
Back in time.
The driveway to the Emu-Z-um

We drove down the driveway to get to the Emu-Z-um Museum, it is lined with old farm equipment and tractors. We parked in front of the old General Store and saw a bell that said ring me for help.  As soon as I rang it Jessica came around the corner and welcomed us. This began our three hour guided tour, a walk back in time. Jessica and her husband Eddie took turns showing each room. It was a delight getting to know them as they showed the expansive museum.

The amazing Train Room

There are over 30 different rooms each named for the collection it holds. The Carriage Room, Rock Room, Military Room, 50’s Room, Old West Room, Doll Room, Sports Room and the list goes on. Each room is filled with a giant collection.

The Rock Room held a giant spoon collection along with petrified wood, rocks and sea shells.

I was totally amazed when we entered each room which housed a different giant collection. Each room is nicely set up to view all the artifacts. I have no idea how Jack and Belva Lawson collected and tastefully displayed so many collections. Jack passed away a few years back and the new owners/caretakers are Eddie and Jessica Florian who have two darling young daughters. Eddie and Jessica gave us our very interesting tour. We really enjoyed the tour and all they shared.

I wish I had taken more pictures (which I don’t often say) I didn’t take any outside pictures. I guess we will have to go back. 😊

Check out my album for just a small picture of some of the collections.
