California

When traveling from our home in the winter, we have to look for the breaks in the storms. We woke up yesterday to a new coat of snow. Looking at the bigger picture, the weather along our route looked like this was our window, so we hooked the car to the coach and went on our way. The roads were fine, had a little fog, but it wasn’t too bad. We did stop for about a half hour when we entered Oregon. The sign said “Over 10,000lbs or Towing must chain up” We are guilty on both counts.  I talked to a couple truck drivers who were also waiting, but after watching trucks go by both ways without chains on, we decided to just go for it. We are glad we did because the road was mostly just wet pavement.  We made it to the New Frontier RV Park in Winnemucca, our favorite RV Park when traveling that direction. I took Ann to a nice Mexican Restaurant to celebrate her ?? Birthday!

We woke up this morning to another dusting of snow in Winnemucca but decided to take off anyway. Again we had about an hour of fog to drive through before we got to Fernley, where we fueled. Clear sailing over Donner! We had a little traffic in the Sacramento area and arrived at our Boondockers Welcome in the early afternoon. We will be here a couple nights. We plan to be in Reedley Sunday and head south in the next Sunday.  Here is a link to some more of our pictures from this trip.
