Albany Historic Carousel

We felt like kids again as we waited to ride, then chose which animal to ride at the Albany Historic Carousel.  When they opened the gate we hope that no on got on our animals before we claimed it. The ride topped off that part of the adventure, complete with the carousel music.  But that wasn’t all, they have volunteers that give tours of the painting area and carving room. This was amazing too!

This Carousel was a community project that started with a dream and a large donation, around 15  years ago. All the animals are hand carved by community volunteers. Bill Dentzel donated  a 1909 Dentzel Carousel mechanism. The catch was that they were given all the parts but no instructions. It took 10 years to get the mechanism put together.

The whole facility is first class and we totally enjoyed our visit there. Check out their website at https://albanycarousel.com/  and here is a link to my pictures from our visit. If you are ever in the area take the time to go and visit the Albany  Carousel!
