Oklahoma in April

April in Oklahoma, what were we thinking?? I don’t know what we were thinking, but I do know this that God wanted us here.  We have been under many severe weather warnings since we came south the end of January.  I moved my car into the sports arena while at Alert Academy because of the threat of hail. We just received lots of hard rain.  Last Wednesday we saw that there was a possibility for severe weather so when we finished work we parked our vehicles undercover by the arena. But the weather looked fine at that time. Then about supper time it started to hail, it started small but then we heard the random loud crashes on our roof. We saw the Giant Hail mixed with the others coming in at about 45 degrees. I had heard about baseball sized hail but this is the first time we experienced it, and hopefully the last time! The weather in these parts is crazy!

When the storm  passed I went outside to do an inspection. There were two direct hits, one on a solar panel, and one on our front air conditioner shroud.  I am thankful that was all. I have already replaced the air conditioner shroud and the solar panel is on order.

We have talked to the locals about the giant hail and it is not the norm here. They usually get the regular smaller hail. We just happened to be here to get the Giant Hail.  We are thankful it was only giant hail, because that storm continued north east and about 40 miles from here a tornado destroyed the towns of Cole and Shawnee. We are so sad for those people. We will be heading towards home in a week, hopefully to more peaceful weather.

Here is the link to some more Hail pictures.
