California here we come

We are very comfortable going places in our Motorhome. We love to travel that way, bringing everything we need with us. Sometimes time and distance just don’t allow you to do what is comfortable for you. This was one of those trips. We needed to attend Ruth’s Funeral in Reedley

Once we had the date for the Ruth’s Service, we had to make a plan to be there. We were between projects, so we were able to move our Motorhome to Alert Academy in Big Sandy, Texas, our project for March. We booked a direct flight from Dallas Forth Worth to Fresno. We are about 2 hours from the DFW so we booked a hotel where you can stay a night and leave your car for a week.  www.ParksleepFly.com  We arrived at the Wingate by Wyndham on Wednesday for our Thursday flight. Of course that night we were in the tornado warning area with 76 mph winds. No tornado and no hail so all was good. The shuttle to the airport and flight went very smoothly. Noah was able to pick us up at the Fresno Airport. We enjoyed staying with my sister Marilyn, her husband Ben and their son Noah in Fresno, they even had a car for us to use. We were able to get together with lots of family and friends while there, but missed getting together with many of you. The time went by really fast and before you know it we were getting up at 3:15 to make our 6:00am flight back to Dallas. The return trip went smoothly.  Getting out of Terminal C and getting to the Courtesy Shuttle pickup area was a little crazy, but the shuttle came soon and brought us back to our car parked at the hotel, which was still there! The park sleep and fly worked really well for us and I would recommend it.  We made it back to our motorhome, (which did well without us for almost a week) in the early afternoon on Wednesday. We went to work at Alert Academy on Thursday.  We are thankful that being way out of our comfort zone everything went smoothly. We are glad to be back in our home away from home.

California Weekend Album.

Dallas Fort Worth is a busy airport. I was amazed at how many American Airlines airplanes there were. Our flight was scheduled to leave from Terminal C gate C12. Just as we got through TSA and found a chair to relax in before our flight we received a notice that our loading gate was changed to C38. That was a long walk, and we were glad that we were there early. Then after we boarded our plane it took 20 minutes to taxi to the runway to take off. My son Josh took a screen shot of the planes getting ready for take off, we are in the red plane. For our first time flying in a long long time, everything worked well, which we are thankful for. We are also glad that American Airlines had direct flights from DFW to FAT.  But we are also very thankful to be safely back in our motorhome, in our own beds.
