North Carolina

We spent 5 days in North Carolina.  The first night at the Warehouse Distillery, a Harvest Hosts. The second night in Faquay-Varina at the Mason Jar Lager Company, you guessed it, another Harvest Hosts. It looked like a fun place and we had great parking in the back for the night. But the cool thing about this stop was that we were able to get together with Ann’s Cousin Lauri and her Husband Mark.  They recently moved here from Lemoore, CA. We enjoyed a meal together at the Mason Jar Tavern and then got to see their home and visit a while. We were glad that we could catch up with them in their new to them home.

From there we traveled east to Sneads Ferry. We ended up with a  nice RV site with a beautiful view, right next to the water.  It was fun to watch the sun rise over the water each morning. We were across from Camp Lejeune, where Bruce and Katie’s grandson is stationed and enjoyed meeting and visiting with him. While there we drove down to Wilmington and took a self guided tour of the Battleship North Carolina. It was amazing that 2000 men were stationed on that ship. As we walked through we tried to imagine what it would have been like when she was in service. It took 177 men just to man the  16″ Main Battery.

On the way back from the ship, we drove over the intercoastal waterway to the Outer Banks, and walked over some stairs to the beach and the Atlantic Ocean.  Ann and Katie played in the water and picked up a few sea shells. The ocean is very different then the west coast, the water is warm and houses line the sand dune as far as you can see.  We have had a good introduction into what humidity is, as it is something we rarely have in the west. We enjoyed out time in North Carolina. Check out the NC Album.
