Even a Train Inside

We have been to a lot of really neat museums all across the country. This is the first time to see a train, box car and caboose inside the building. There are no doors or tracks to drive it in or out. They had the track laid, hauled the train in, placed the train on the track and then built the building around it.  But it is so much more than a train museum, as the train is  only one big display along the wall. It is about all kinds of Land Transportation in Maine. The variety of vehicles is what makes this museum unique.  Each vehicle has a sign by it with the history of the vehicle.

It started with a horse drawn wagon in the early 1900’s which grew to Coles Express. When family didn’t want to continue the company it was sold and the museum was built. If you are ever in Bangor, Maine be sure to go to the Cole Land Transportation Museum.
