Adding States to our maps

We met up with our SOWER friends, Bruce and Katie at Heartland Retreat Center in Marengo, Ohio on Saturday. We will be traveling and working together till we part ways, maybe in Texas?  On Monday we headed to the Farmstead Restaurant, another Harvest Host, in Berlin, OH. This is in the middle of Amish Country. We spent the afternoon walking around town and listening to the clip clop of horse hoofs pulling the traditional Black Buggy along the road. Seeing hitching posts in parking lots was something new for us. We were surprised at the number of electric bikes. The next stop was at Miracle Mountain Ranch, in Spring Creek, Pennsylvania. This is a SOWER project, but we just spent the night and got a tour of the Ranch. Miracle Mountain Ranch is a Christ-focused summer camp that provides programs for kids, teens, and even families. This put Pennsylvania on both our map and Bruce and Katie’s map. The next stop was Olean, NY, at a Boondockers welcome called Moe-Z inn. New York welcomed us with some heat and humidity. Thursday we headed to Batavia, NY and had the transmission fluid changed on our Coach. While they were working on it, we took a drive to Lockport, and learned about the Erie Canal and saw the Locks there. There is a 70′ elevation difference in the Erie Canal there! We spent another night in a field by a winery in Olcott, then reported to our project here at Lighthouse Christian Camp right along the shore of Lake Ontario. Here is a link to our New York album, which I will continue to add too. Have a wonderful day.

  1. Burneall and Ann,
You are continuing to chalk up the miles, add new states to your map, AND see more amazing historical and beautiful places! Looking at the Lighthouse Camp website, I think I would want to “park” there for many months! I’ll be very interested in hearing about projects you get involved in while there–and the fun day trips you take. By the way, sorry that I forgot to share some of my rhubarb Danish kringle with you–it definitely wasn’t sour!

    1. It is a beautiful area, with Lake Ontario a couple hundred yards away. Today was our first day at work. I got to put a RV Trailer in a roll off bin. I will share more on this soon. Those Danish Kringle’s are really good. We took the Almond one out of the freezer yesterday. Really good.
