Today we stopped by the Launching Pad Restaurant, home to the Iconic Gemini Giant in Wilmington, Illinois! We came from Timber-Lee Camp in East Troy, Wisconsin through Woodstock, Ill and many other towns to get there. But, if you would take Route 66 from the start in Chicago, this is the first official stop you’ll reach. You could purchase a Route 66 passport book that they will put their stamp in, visit their Welcome Center, gift shop and get something from the Dinner. O yes, I almost forgot, the most important thing to do there is take pictures of you, your family, your Country Coach. While we were there maybe 20 people stopped by to take a picture with the Giant. It was a really fun stop, great people own and run the Launching Pad. Some day we just might make a Route 66 trip, but that will have to wait as we are heading to New York.
