The March Meet at the Famoso Drag Strip started in 1959. I have been several times over the years. You never know what the weather might be, but this year it was a beautiful 70 degrees.
I went with a couple friends. There is lots to see besides all the different classes of drag racing. In the pit area you can see them preparing for the next race and check out all the haulers. There are vendors selling everything from Hot Wheels to Tools, T-shirts to Race Car parts. There is also a huge swap meet with mostly car stuff. Lots of food options and show cars to see.
Racing started at 9:00 with the Hot Rod class and ended the day with Top Fuel, Funny Cars and the Jet Cars finished the day.
There were four Jet Cars that ran at the end of the day, and it was amazing to watch them run. I did not expect them to go almost 300 miles per hour! When they start them up there is a lot of smoke and fire. Then they shoot down the track like a rocket on wheels, 🤔 which they are.
