On to Reedley

We extended our stay at the Desert Rose RV Park by a day while we waited out the weather. It was the first snow of the season in the Fernley – Reno area and the traffic getting to the border was messed up all morning. Chain control was lifted by the end of the day over Donner. We hung out at the RV Park all day.

It was the 70th anniversary of when Nate Saint and his four friends were martyred in Ecuador by the Auca tribe. I remember the story as a very young kid in church. He was a Mission Aviation Fellowship pilot. Their headquarters is about twenty minutes from our home. I decided it was a great day to start reading this book. Mission Aviation Fellowship is a great organization.

Ready to roll, after a light check

We woke up to 15 degrees, but most of the snow had melted and there were no Chain restrictions over Donner.

The first stop was for fuel. With our Open Roads discount card we paid $2.87 per gallon,  and plan to make it back to The Loves at Fernley before we fuel again.

Rest Area Donner Pass

I am sure it was really cold outside but the road was dry and the sky was blue all the way over Donner. Highway 80 is still rough and the Coach did get really dirty, but the drive to Reedley went well. I am glad that we took that extra day.

Gold Run Rest Area

We arrived at the yard in the afternoon. Today I cleaned off the winter travel grime and got things ready for our stay. We look forward to my brother’s party tomorrow, visiting with family and friends and if we stay long enough the blossoms.

Ready for visitors 🤠
