Family RV Association

On August 11 we headed to the FMCA International Convention, Adventure Peaks, at the Deschutes Expo Center in Redmond, Oregon. This is a time when Recreational Vehicle owners from all over the country get together. There are vendors, seminars, entertainment and good times getting together with other RVers. At this Convention the Family Motor Coach Association officially changed it’s name to Family RV Association. They used to be a motorized RV association, but a few years back included towable RVs. Changing the name reflects their mission and hopefully will bring in more members.

We had our coach parked at Mission Aviation Fellowship because of the water line repair at our house. Bruce and Katie were staying there.  MAF is where we met Bruce & Katie when we did a SOWER project with them in June of 2021. We live about 20 minutes from MAF. We drove over, hooked our car up to the motorhome and off we went. We had a nice lunch at a park in Burns, Oregon. Then we stopped by Valoree’s house (well big RVs kind of invaded her street) and Bruce filled his water tank. We visited a while and took the 15 minute drive to the Deschutes Expo Center.

We volunteered as Mentors for the Rally, which met that we contacted “First Timers” before the rally and gave them a tour before the rally started. We were nervous at first, but we had fun doing it and would do it again. There was entertainment each evening, lots of RV related vendors, educational seminars and lots of RVs for sale. Check out the line of new Motorhomes for sale! This picture just shows a few of the RVs displayed for sale.

These are pictures of some businesses we have done business with.  Joseph is the number one installer for  Shade Pro.  He replaced our awnings while we were in Quartzite. The awning over the door had a small tare, so he replaced it for us.  We upgraded our WiFi under the FMCA Tech Connect program, and did it in person. I asked Jason, who we insure  motorhome through, a couple questions, which he answered. We touched bases with the owners of Amazing Creations, who did a great job recovering our couch in the motorhome last year. If you look at the picture of the recliners for sale, you will see Steve, the owner of Countryside Interiors sitting talking to his son Levi, during a slow time. I thought is was a great picture. Steve and Sharon have been selling Aero Cosmetics products for over 15 years at RV Shows across the country. After going to a couple of Steve’s seminars I bought the Aero Cosmetics kit back in 2019 and have been using their products to keep our Motorhome looking good ever since.

Conventions like this give you a opportunity to meet the vendors in person, learn more about products and services, maintenance, travel options, and so much more. The best part for me is the relationships made during gatherings like this.

After it was over we made the trip from the Deschutes Expo area to the Deschutes Expo RV park, maybe a half mile, and enjoyed a more relaxing time with family and our friends that were at the Rally. Here is a link to our Adventure Peaks album.
