In August of 2019 we attended the 100th FMCA Rally in Minot North Dakota. While we were there we were talking to some folks that were parked around us. The question came up, Where are you going next? A group of them said, We are going to walk across the Mississippi. Wow, you can do that I thought! Walk across the Great River! That sounds crazy!
This morning we did just that. We walked across the Mississippi. The headwaters to the Mississippi are located in Itasca State Park in Minnesota and that is where it starts it’s 2,552 mile journey to the Gulf of Mexico.
Not only did we walk across the Great River, but we took the scenic one lane Wilderness Drive, checked out the amazing gift shop and enjoyed lunch at the Historic Douglas Lodge. We shared the “Classics.” Tater Tot Hotdish and the Wild Rice Casserole. They were both really good. We arrive right when they opened, so being first, were seated at the coveted corner table overlooking the lake. It was a very enjoyable day. Here is a link to our album.
Tomorrow we are off the the Fargo Air Museum.
