This is our second time volunteering at Aldersgate Camps and Retreats SOWER Project number OR-320. Our first time here was November of 2020. At that crazy time, the camp was running under survival mode. They had virtually no staff but, were able to host a few small weekend retreats and had a couple churches meeting on their campus. It was very quiet here, and we helped as hotel maids, getting the rooms ready for the next weekend retreat.
What a joy it is to be here now and see the camp buzzing with activity. Aldersgate is set up with many areas where meetings can take place and they have had 3 or 4 retreats going on each weekend with some meeting during the week.
As SOWERs we can help with big projects or taking care of those small projects that stay on their list for a long time. We have helped with both this month. Mark and I have done everything from replacing a couple 2′ x 8′ windows to checking over 30 shower heads to make sure they were tight! The girls have done lots of cleaning, laundry, furniture refinishing and it looks like they will be sewing SOWERs this week.
We didn’t know Mark and Ginny before they arrived at Aldersgate, but it didn’t take long to become friends. It always amazes me how GOD puts the right people in the right place, HE is truly a GOD that takes care of the details. More on that in a later post.
We really enjoy working with the Camp Director Eric, the Maintenance Director Dan, and his helper Alex. You become friends and part of their team while working with them.
If you are a SOWER and trying to decide where to serve, put Aldersgate OR-320 on your short list, you will be Blessed as you are a Blessing. Click here for our Aldersgate Album.
