Heading East

Heading to Eastern Idaho that is. We have friends that were going to be in Rigby Idaho, so we decided to head east to see them and as a bonus explore the area.

A few days before we headed east, we found outĀ  that friends from Vancouver Washington, who became friends in Reedley many years ago, were going to be at her mom’s in Burley. We left a day early, booked a night in a neat city run RV park next to Burley and spent the evening with them.

I love the quirky places, and the Idaho Potato Museum has been on my “Want to go to List” for a while and it was right on our route. We enjoyed learning all about potatoes, and then had a baked potato in the little cafe, all in the restored Blackfoot train station. It is a fun little stop if you are in the area.

We continued on to an RV Park in Rigby where our friends are staying. They took us on a scenic driveĀ  up to Island Park for lunch, Mesa Falls, Driggs, Swan Valley. We had views of the Teton Mountain Range and Snake river. It is a beautiful area. We also connected with friends that introduced us to Pickleball. Good times, good friends.

And yes, we are all SOWERs, and met at SOWER projects.

And we are still smiling after we played.

I saw signs advertising Cars and Drags” which caught my eye. So Saturday we headed down to the city park in downtown Rigby. This was a giant event that raised money for Meals on Wheels. Tons of people, even families with small kids, food trucks galore, big car show, a free style motorcycle area with lots of craziness and burnouts, and 100′ Drag races.

Both the Model A and pickup had Flathead V8s

Right by the city park.
There was some crazy motorcycle action.

Check out more Cars and Drag pictures.

We will be heading home tomorrow. Check back for updates.
