Forty Post #10 It is a wrap

September 30, 2024, ready to start the project!

The first thing was to take out the seat. I had no idea what I was in for.

On September 30, 2024 I started this project. The goal was to fix the oil leaks and the terrible clutch chatter. The rear end, transmission and engine all had oil leaks. The clutch would chatter every time I released it. I had a goal of finishing in April, I didn’t know if that goal was attainable, but it is always good to have goals.

The rear end was not only leaking oil, but it was worn out. I replaced lots of parts and it took a lot of time getting it adjusted correctly. I had some help from Vince at Fearless Gears, and David my friend and consultant. Then came the transmission. I had an extra transmission so I took the best of both and made a good one, with the help of some new parts. Then the engine, cleaned and checked it and installed all new gaskets and front and rear main seals. I checked and rechecked, adjusted then readjusted and readjusted again. Nothing came easy.

Today was a big day. David and Josh came over and we installed the very heavy hood. This project is a wrap! Wahoo!! The clutch is smooth, the chatter is gone. It is so much nicer to drive. The oil leaks are fixed, at least for now. Now to get out and drive it. Maybe show it a little. It is definitely not a perfect show car,  but it is a fun car.

You can see it run and drive here.

Stay tuned, we will be on the road next week 🤠
