We spent a couple weeks in California visiting family and friends. We also serviced our motorhome while there. We had a wonderful time. Then not long after we got back home our daughter and family came for a visit. The grandkids grow up so fast, we are thankful for every moment we can spend with them.
Back to the Forty, I checked all the valve clearances and they were good. I turned the engine over on the engine stand and removed the pan. Dave came over and we were going to replace the “graphite rope rear main seals”. Dave has a lot of experiance with Flathead Fords and the retainers just didn’t look right. We did some research and found they were from a older flathead. We decided to order the correct rear main seal retainers. As I was looking at putting the engine together I found more parts that I would, so ordered more parts.
While waiting for parts I have started to clean and paint some of the parts. I will be going back to the original Ford Green engine paint for the 1940 Ford. Big change from the red engine. I have also been getting the engine bay ready for paint. We want a nice looking home when we reinstall the Dark Green Flathead.
