Our second stop in Montana was another Harvest Hosts in Three Forks. Bridger Brewing was another great Harvest Hosts with lots of level gravel parking for Harvest Host members. We enjoyed lunch there, great restaurant and I had one of their Root Beers served in a ice cold mug, it was great!!
We had walked across the Mississippi, so while in Three Forks we went to the Headwaters of the Missouri River. It was quite different then the Headwaters of the Mississippi, which starts as a small stream running out of Lake Itasca. The Missouri River starts at the confluence of the Jefferson, Madison and Gallatin Rivers. These are three big rivers merging into very major river. The Missouri River runs 2,341 miles before entering the Mississippi River 15 miles north of St. Louis Missouri. The Missouri was main routes of westward expansion of the United States.
Our next stop was the SoJo Norwegian Ranch in Missoula Montana. Yes this is another Harvest Hosts. We had stayed here a couple years ago while heading east. They have a very nice place with chickens, goats, puppies, campfire pit, and big gardens. Sonia is the host and is very friendly and welcoming. We did purchase some eggs and meat from her. It is a great stop if you are in the area.
I was a little surprised to see this name for a school. There is a Hellgate Canyon in Missoula but to use that name for a school?? It must be interesting when kids are asked “and Where do you go to school?” I could imagine the answers. I know that some kids feel school is like that but, to actually go to that school.
