Journey Home Begins

We left our friends and Shepherds College on Saturday morning. It is never easy to leave, friends we enjoyed being with, or projects where we really felt at home. This one was especially hard. It was one of those split emotions times. I hated to leave, but I was excited get on the road. The adventures, sites and friends we are looking forward too seeing were calling.

Our first stop was Aurora, Wisconsin the home of our friends the Vogel’s. We worked with Warren and Linda a couple years ago while serving together at Camp Timber-Lee in Wisconsin.  We became SOWER co-sponsors for Shepherds College. They have built a really nice place where she grew up and her family has lived for over 100 years. She still has family all around.  We watched the deer and wild turkeys in the fields. We even saw a fawn poke it’s head out of the grass look around and lay back down, hidden from view. We went to the local Church that was just down the road from their house and they took us for a tour around the area. The Pine Mountain Ski & Gold resort is just over the boarder in Iron Mountain Michigan. Warren and I walked the 500 steps down, and thankfully the girls picked us up at the bottom. The area is just beautiful and we had a wonderful time with our friends.
