Tomorrow we leave Oregon and start our adventure to the North East Corner of the United States. I have been working on planning the first leg of the trip which is about 2000 miles and ends up at Camp Timber-Lee in Wisconsin. We don’t just want to make it a trip, as the journey is a big part of the adventure.
What tools do I use to plan a trip? One that I have been using this year, is RV Life Trip Wizard. (I have to pay for it) This helps me plan places to stay, while using a RV safe route. (keeps me from low bridges and etc) We are always checking the route with Google maps. The Satellite View and Street View in Google Maps help a lot, especially when looking at your destination. Sometime I use Google Earth Pro too. Another tool I use to find fun places to stay is Harvest Hosts, (it is a membership$) which has lots of interesting places to stay for free. It does cost to stay because you purchase something to support the Hosts. I also use RV park advisor to find places to stay. I have used this a long time and it is quick and easy. There are lots of tools out there, but these are the main ones I use.
I haven’t done too good on planning this trip, as I only have the first night and last night reserved. We will be winging it for most of the trip. I have a loose schedule with lots of places we could stay and things we would like to see marked down. But I am not sure on how far we want to go each day. Trying to keep it to 200 – 300 miles a day, but there isn’t much along some of the long lonely highway we will be on. Follow along with our journey to see how well that works for us. That is it for now, have a wonderful day, Burneall
